3 celebrations
I have become more informed about current events and learned how to talk about them. In humanities we spent a lot of time talking about current events. We learned how to talk about events without bias and find reliable sources to base our conversations on. I think this is a very important skill to have because it helps me get as many views as possible to understand what is happening in our world.
I have become a better biker this year. I participated in the animas high school mountain biking team. I was disqualified in the first race after I got run over by the group, but I persevered and finished all the other races - moving up in the standings with each race. I qualified for State which I did not do last year, and ended up finishing 29th which I think is pretty good for my 3rd year ever mounting biking.
I have become a better advocator for myself this year, and I have noticed the change in quality for the better. For example my when creating my personal hero's journey I advocated so instead of writing the assignment I recorded a podcast. This accomodated my difficulties, and allowed me to go deeper than I would have with written words.
2 areas of growth
I could work on my organization for many reasons. The first of which is my issue with losing my assignments and not turning them in on time. I also often forget to do homework in the first place. This is also a problem outside of school. I often lose or forget things that I need for what I am doing. I could fix this with a few simple adjustments like making reminders on my phone. I have tried this technique this week and it is working.
I could work on following up with work when I miss school. This semester I missed 2 weeks of school for various reasons. One trip took to Seattle to work on my dad's boat. When I got back I did not follow up with my teachers to find out what I was missing. This is an issue because it sets me back in my class assignments so my grades suffer, and it piles up at the end of the year giving me a lot of work. This can be avoided if I follow up with my teachers sooner rather than later, and watch my grades more closely.
Question I can ponder over Christmas Break:
How can I keep my grades up throughout the next semester.
